No. OCR runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to any server.
300 DPI is the standard minimum for clean printed text. Below 150 DPI, characters start merging or getting skipped. Most flatbed scanner defaults (300 DPI, black-and-white or greyscale) produce near-perfect results. Phone scanning apps typically shoot at 200–400 DPI, which is sufficient.
The most common causes are: scan resolution below 200 DPI, a page photographed at an angle, faded or low-contrast ink, or the wrong language selected. Try rescanning at a higher DPI with the page flat and well-lit, and confirm the language setting matches your document.
Light fading often still reads — the tool handles moderate contrast loss. Heavy fading, water damage, or bleed-through from the reverse side reduces accuracy significantly. No OCR setting compensates for ink that is genuinely unreadable.
Scan each page separately and drop all files in together. Use "Combined" output mode to merge them into one file in filename order. Name files 001.tiff, 002.tiff, etc. to control page order.
